Vast Alliance

I am pleased to say that the Vast Alliance has accepted our alliance. However they have some terms that we must follow, and I am sure that you all will be more than willing to agree with.

It is expected that you all will join the Vast Empire as members. We have already gotten some members from VE to come here, so I am sure that you can return the favor. They have also been very considerate in telling me that you will all be allowed to remain together, in the same squad. Here is the message that Cosmic (Prefect of the Army) sent me:

We will allow the Alienus members to join the Vast Empire, however, there are some points that need to be mentioned:

1) It was assumed that they'd all like to "stick together", meaning the majority (if not all) would join either the Stormtrooper Corps or the Imperial Navy. If this is the case, then it is preferred that they join the Stormtrooper Corps due to there being some problems with Navy NTO succession (in other words, the Navy, at the moment, cannot handle such a huge influx of people). If only a few are going to join the Navy, then that's fine, but if there's going to be quite a good number of them joining a single division, then they should join the Stormtrooper Corps.

2) They will enter the STC with the rank of Private and will all be transferred to Iron Horse squad once they've completed Basic Training. Because there's a good 20+ of them, multiple squads may need to be opened. In this case, we (the AHC) will try our best to keep them together in the same squads since they already know how the other writes (their personalities, characters' typical traits, etc.)

3) It was also decided that you would stay in your current squad (rather than being their ASL or something). We (the HC) thought that this would be the best situation so that they know who's "in charge". In other words, you may be the head/main-admin for Alienus, but you don't have an equivalent position in the Vast Empire, and we didn't want to give them the wrong idea. This is not to say that you could never be a part of their squad(s), but for the time being you will remain where you are.

I will elaborate on some points.

1-2) This is very good news. Iron Horse Squad is the one of the most prestigious squads in the Vast Empire, and I'm not just saying that. It was also the first Squad to be made, its been around since the 90's. You will all be allowed to join it together, but you must all join as Privates. You will be assigned a Squad Leader from another Squad, but the likelyhood that one of you will be promoted to Assistant Squad Leader is very high as well. I am going to ask you that you all consider to join the Stormtrooper Corps, but as Comic said you may join the VEN if you wish.

3) Unfortunately I will not be joining you as of yet. I am the Assistant Squad Leader of Wraith Squad, and I simply cannot leave them so short noticed. The High Command feels that since I am such a new member in the Vast Empire, it is better for me to stay as I am. I am satisfied with this decision, but needless to say we will still be writing together on numerous occasions, and you can always talk to me on the #Vast_Empire IRC channel. =)


Now onto when you join:

When you announce your presence on the boards PLEASE ADD AT THE TOP THAT YOU ARE AN ALIENUS MEMBER. That will help them to make sure that they are placing you in the same squad. If you are joining the Navy (I know of only one) then please do the same.

Other than that, I am very excited about this new alliance with Vast Empire. Be sure to know that activities will still continue, and will we still RP here if you wish (I know I would like to keep this place alive) although the pace will be more relaxed and easy going. well im joining the navy as well as Corran (or drac on VE), but we both already posted without the Alienus bit at the top...but we both posted that we've been posting on Alienus so i dont know what all will happen

I'll probably create a dual account for the Stormtrooper corps. There're a couple of names I go by, so pulling out a third identity won't be too hard (If you're wondering the 1st is Corran, who I can't use in VE).

Question: I see on a lot of the members' profiles that they're members of two or more divisions, both Army and Navy being the most common. Are these cases of dual characters going through one forum account or of one character with multiple duties?

Anden: I mentioned in my training topic that I'd like to command fleet ships some day rather than fly fighters. Stormcrow said it wasn't possible at the moment, but might be developed. Do you think the Naval Command would allow me to help develop that? And/or would it be a good idea to approach them about it?

As to your first question, one account multiple duties; its like having more than one title.

For your second question, the Navy does do that right now; I'm not sure why Stormcrow answered it that way, he may have been refering to your low rank and the difficulties of rising up to the position where you would be able to.

There's already been a good amount of questions, so I'm going to try and answer a few more:

What is the Vast Empire?
We are a Star Wars Play-By-Post club. Our primary activities revolve around our forum (ComNet). We do support numerous game platforms, but the majority of our time is spent writing.

How many divisions does the Vast Empire Have?
The Vast Empire has several divisions:

Stormtrooper Corps (Army) - Primary Division
Imperial Navy - Primary Division
Dark Jedi Order - Elite Division (must submit an application to join after fulfilling requirements)
Engineering Corps - "Sub-division" (A division for game-mod creators, graphics artists, web designers, coders/programmers, etc.)

Do we *have* to join a particular division?
No. Our Naval High Command has cleared up the issues they've been having before, so now you can join either the Stormtrooper Corps or Imperial Navy - that is completely up to you.

Do you have some sort of real-time chat room?
Yes. We use mIRC (a downloadable chat client - free if you don't register) and a Javascript Chat client. We hold weekly club meetings, so those chat clients are important for meeting participation.

Are we in an Alliance or are AlienuS members merging/joining the Vast Empire?
We were informed by Ron that AlienuS was slowly dying. The Vast Empire High Council decided that forming an alliance with a dying club would not be reasonable, so it was decided that AlienuS members could/would "merge" with the Vast Empire (join as members).

Will we receive equivalent ranks during the merge?
No. All new Stormtrooper Corps trainees will start out with the rank of Private, and all new Naval pilots will start out with the rank of Crewman.

Will we be able to stick together?
Yes - for the most part. I, as Prefect of the Army, will do my best to keep AlienuS members in the same squad(s). It would help, though, if you could identify yourself as an AlienuS member so our Commander of Training can sort you out. The same suggestion goes for those joining the Imperial Navy as well.

What kind of site features does the VE have?
The Vast Empire has the following features (just to name a few):

First Galactic Bank (your own bank account with Imperial Credits - SW currency)
ImperiTrade Financial - Stock Market
Imperial Center Store - A store to buy items to be used in character development/missions

An online casino is also in the works.
