Join the Mercenaries!

I. What are the Mercenaries?

A mercenary (merc for short) is a soldier who fights for any faction in exchange for a desirable amount of money. They appear in all known eras where conflicts erupt.


Mercenaries are often said to have "neutral" affiliation and are hired by many fighting forces without actually joining them. In some cases though, they grew sympathetic to their clients. Mercenaries were employed in the Jedi Civil War by both Sith and Galactic Republic forces. The Rebel Alliance hired several privateers in the Galactic Civil War. Prior to the splitting of the Mandalorians into two factions, they were among the most famous and skilled mercenaries in the galaxy. Due to their incredible brute strength and low intelligence, Gamorreans were often employed as mercenaries.

Upon joining the Mercenary Guild, this is what you will be.

II. What do the Mercenaries stand for?

The Mercs stand for neutrality in the galaxy, compared to the Jedi who stand for good, the Sith who stand for evil, and the Dark Jedi who stand for the perverted good. They are shrewd, clever, and sometimes merciless people, who fight to fill their purse.


Upon joining the Mercenary Guild, this is what you will stand for.

III. What do the Mercenaries DO?

The Mercenaries are the most freeform factions in the galaxy, you can do most anything (save use the Force or weild a lightsaber). You can sell yourself to another faction. Or work for the Captain of your guild. What you do is up to you, and what you become is all up to you. Some rank advancements are:

-Captain (Leads the Guild along with his first mate)
-First Mate (Assists the Captain)

-Mercenary (A gun for hire)
-Bounty Hunter (Hunts down criminals and fugitives for a reward)
-Smuggler (Engages in the clandestine shipment of goods or persons to prevent taxation or some other impediment)

-Apprentice (A new member learning one of the trades)

Each member starts out as an apprentice, training under either a Merc, Hunter or Smuggler. When they have completed their apprenticeship, they may become full members of the Guild and train new apprentices in their field.

IV. So the Mercenaries have ships and guns...

You bet they do. As a Mercenary you get your own ship, weaponry, and NPC crew... and its all up to you to determine the kinds that you want!

V. How You Can Join.

Easy. Just go to "Character Central" and read <Building Your Character 101> (clickable link) to make your character. Once an admin has approved your character, report to the <Cantina>, a sub-forum in Syndicate HQ, and POST NEW to introduce yourself to the rest of the Mercenary Guild! Hopefully within the next few hours/days you will be assigned a Merc to be your mentor to help you advance through the many ranks and achievements ahead of you!
